Windsor, Ontario September 30, 2010 - Chrysler Canada today announced sales of 16,135 vehicles for the month of September, an increase of 2 per cent over the same month last year.  Retail sales were up 17 per cent.

"Calendar year to date Chrysler Canada has gained more market share than any other automaker in Canada," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada. “2009 was a tough year, but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and in 2010 our sales growth is stronger than ever.”

Sales Highlights

The first of the all-new vehicles in the Chrysler Group product offensive, the Jeep® Grand Cherokee, saw a sales surge of 131 per cent to 1,039 units.

“The new Jeep Grand Cherokee is a perfect example of the products people can expect from a restructured Chrysler,” said Reid Bigland.  "This month’s sales results show that consumers like what they see in the form of high quality, highly fuel-efficient, state-of-the-art vehicles."

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most capable ever. The Grand Cherokee combines the finest European on-road dynamics with all of the legendary off-road characteristics one would expect from the flagship Jeep. It also offers best-in-class fuel economy of 32 mpg with over a thousand kilometre range on a tank of gas.

The Ram pickup set a month-of-September record, increasing 14 per cent on sales of 4,472 units.  Sales of the Ontario-built Dodge Grand Caravan reached 4,232 units, up 16 per cent over last year. These two vehicles represent two of Canada's top four highest selling nameplates, highlighting Canadian consumer preference for unbeatable functionality combined with great style.

Canada's best-selling crossover, the Dodge Journey, set an all-time monthly sales record, posting unit sales of 2,327, a gain of 146 per cent.

"We are pleased to see that our three big guns - Dodge Grand Caravan, Ram Pickup, and Dodge Journey - have already combined for over 100,000 sales this year," said Dave Buckingham, Vice President of Sales, Chrysler Canada.  "This is more volume than the entire lineups of 14 of the 18 major manufacturers selling vehicles in Canada."
