Chrysler Group Named a Top Supporter of Engineering Programs at the Nation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities by U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology Magazine

  • Distinguished list includes employers engaged in developing, recruiting and hiring talented students pursuing technical careers at the nation's minority-serving institutions
  • Second consecutive year Chrysler Group has been selected for the list
March 8, 2012 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -  The deans of 14 accredited Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), in conjunction with the Advancing Minorities’ Interest in Engineering (AMIE) alliance, have again selected Chrysler Group as a Top Supporter of engineering programs at the nation's HBCUs and other minority-serving institutions. 

In making their selections, the deans and alliance members considered a company’s support for infrastructure modernization, research, participation on advisory councils, faculty development, scholarships, student projects, co-ops and career opportunities. This 10th annual survey of education leaders was conducted by U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine.  This is the second consecutive year Chrysler Group has been selected to the list.

Rae, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Chrysler Group LLC. “Our relationships with the nation’s minority-serving institutions are an invaluable asset in our ability to secure the diverse talent we need to sustain our success and compete in the global marketplace.”

U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine will salute Chrysler Group in the Dean's Edition of the magazine to be published this spring. Top Supporters will also be acknowledged at an upcoming recognition dinner to be held in the near future.

The deans invited to participate in the survey represented institutions such as: Alabama A&M University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Howard University, Jackson State University, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina A&T State University, Prairie View A&M University, Southern University A&M, Tennessee State University, Tuskegee University and Virginia State University.

In March 2011, the editors of DiversityInc magazine named Chrysler Group to the magazine's 2011 list of "Top 50 Companies for Diversity." This coveted annual benchmark is comprised of companies the magazine's editors believe are diversity-management leaders. The grant supports Hispanic students who pursue a course of study that focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields and continued a longstanding relationship between The Chrysler Foundation and the HSF which began in 1986. Since that time, HSF has received 25 grants from the Foundation totaling more than $750,000.

Over the years, a long line of Chrysler Group employees have received important professional recognition from various diversity organizations, including Black Engineer of the Year, Women of Color, HENAAC Great Minds in STEM and others, reflecting the Company’s strong commitment to developing its diverse workforce.
